The Cockburn Association's Urban Design Group

The Cockburn Association is in the process of establishing an Urban Design Group.

Members of the Group will be drawn from a wide range of professions including planning, architecture, engineering and the natural and built environment. All members of the Group will give their time voluntarily.

The Urban Design Group will be completely independent and give constructive comment after considering plans, drawings and relevant planning policy with considerable care and attention. The views of the committee will be summarised and a letter sent to the developer and the City of Edinburgh Council expressing the views on behalf of the Cockburn Association.

We are likely to comment on applications, either in support or objection, which may affect the World Heritage Site, a Conservation Area, include Listed Building Consent, Green Belt land, interesting new design or large scale regeneration proposals.

The Urban Design Group will be involved at an early, pre-application stage by developers and architects considering sensitive or challenging sites and as part of this will regularly undertake site visits.

Members are encouraged to highlight applications of interest by contacting our Director. In such cases it is useful if you can provide the Planning Application Reference Number and check that the date for making representations has not passed.
